NEW YORK， March 17 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks closed mixed after wavering between gains and losses Friday， as investors digested a batch of economic data as well as corporate earnings reports.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 19.93 points， or 0.10 percent， to 20，914.62. The S&P 500 decreased 3.13 points， or 0.13 percent， to 2，378.25. The Nasdaq Composite Index edged up 0.24 point， or less than 0.01 percent， to 5，901.00.
U.S. industrial production was unchanged in February following a 0.1 percent decrease in January， the Federal Reserve reported on Friday. In February， manufacturing output moved up 0.5 percent for its sixth consecutive monthly increase.
"The January and February manufacturing gains mark the best two-month performance in three years， reinforcing recent signs that domestic manufacturing is rebounding from recent lows as the global economy stabilizes and the dollar's rapid run-up dissipates，" said Sophia Kearney-Lederman， an economic analyst at FTN Financial， in a note.
Meanwhile， the preliminary reading of the consumer sentiment for March rose to 97.6 from 96.3 in February， said the Thomson ReutersUniversity of Michigan index of consumer sentiment on Friday.
In corporate news， shares of Tiffany jumped 2.71 percent to 92.42 U.S. dollars apiece Friday after the company posted better than expected quarterly results.
The jewelry retailer reported its financial results for the fourth fiscal quarter ending on Jan， 31， 2017. Its worldwide net sales rose 1 percent in the fourth quarter， while net earnings per diluted share declined 2 percent in the same period.
Investors also kept a close eye on the meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors， which kicks off in Germany's Baden-Baden on Friday.
In a weekly basis， all three major indices witnessed modest gains， with the Dow， the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq going up 0.1 percent， 0.2 percent and 0.7 percent， respectively.
BETHLEHEM， West Bank， March 15 (Xinhua) -- Reports conflict about the fate of a Palestinian girl， who ran over and wounded three Israelis with her vehicle south of the West Bank city of Bethlehem on Wednesday.
Israeli soldiers shot and critically wounded earlier on Wednesday a 15-year-old Palestinian girl after her car-ramming attack， Israeli and Palestinian sources said.
The Israeli media reported that the Palestinian girl， driving a car， ran over three Israelis who were standing at Gush Itzion settlement's crossroad south of Bethlehem in southern West Bank.
The reports said Israeli soldiers stationed at the crossroad opened fire at the girl and critically wounded her. Three Israelis were lightly injured and the girl was taken to hospital.
The reports said that the girl was identified as Fatima Taqatqa， aged 15， from the village of Beit Fujar near Bethlehem， and her fate is still unknown whether dead or still alive， adding that she doesn't have a driving license.
Palestinian medical and security sources confirmed that the Palestinian girl was critically wounded. However， the Palestinian health ministry hasn't officially confirmed the girl's death. She is currently in the hands of the Israeli side.
A wave of tension has been going on between Israel and the Palestinians since October 2015， with the latter frequently carrying out stabbing and cars run-over attacks.
Official figures said more than 350 Palestinians and one Jordanian in the West Bank and east Jerusalem， as well as over 40 Israelis had been killed since then.
